Headteachers' Welcome
Welcome to St Mary’s Bryanston Square CE Primary School, a beacon of excellence nestled in the heart of Marylebone, London. We pride ourselves on our outstanding behaviour, leadership, and personal development programs that shape our students into well-rounded individuals ready to excel in their future endeavors.
At St Mary's we are fortunate to have two Headteachers; Mr Duffy & Mrs Marius-Beeko.

Mr Duffy is our Executive Headteacher, who has responsibility for two schools (St Mary's & Christ Church , Regents Park). Mrs Marius-Beeko is the Head of School of St Mary's every day, leading our school.
We want all of our children to be able to make confident choices in the future, whether that is in the next phase of their education or in later life. We hope that the time in which they were with us, they will have gained the knowledge and skills to allow them to make choices in life, whichever route they take.
We have high expectations of all of our children at SMBS and use our school’s Christian values and the teachings of the Bible to help us live life in all its fullness. Our school vision of 'Excellence with Compassion'
drives all that we do.
St Mary’s Bryanston Square Primary School is not just any school; it is a village school in the heart of London, offering a unique blend of a close-knit community atmosphere with the rich cultural experiences of the city. Our prime location provides a safe, nurturing environment while being accessible to the myriad educational and recreational opportunities that London has to offer.
Mrs Marius-Beeko shares:
As Head of School, it is my privilege to lead a community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to thrive. At the heart of our work is our Christian vision of “Excellence with Compassion.” We believe that education should nurture both the mind and the spirit, and we are committed to ensuring that all children flourish within a caring and aspirational environment. Guided by our Christian ethos, we encourage our pupils to develop the curiosity, kindness and resilience that will set them up to life-long lovers of learning.
Our vision of Excellence with Compassion means that we seek the very best for every child. We challenge and support our pupils so that they make strong academic progress while also growing spiritually and morally. Through high expectations, inspiring teaching and a culture of care, we aim for each child to develop confidence, character and curiosity.
We are also proud to make the most of our exceptional Central London location. Our pupils benefit from enriching partnerships with world-renowned cultural institutions, including the Royal College of Music, the Royal Albert Hall and Sinfonia Smith Square. In addition, we regularly visit London Zoo as well as the many museums and galleries at the heart of our city. These experiences bring learning to life and ensure that our children engage with the very best of the arts, sciences and cultural heritage that London has to offer.
Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our national outcomes. In May 2023, Ofsted highlighted our achievements, stating, “Leaders have high expectations of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Pupils read enthusiastically. They learn a broad range of subjects and are taught how to make connections between subject content in different areas of the curriculum. Leaders’ work to develop the curriculum is rigorous, including in early years, where their actions have been particularly successful. They know what is working well, and they are tenacious in building on this and securing further improvements. This is a key reason why pupils learn so effectively in many subjects. Parents are extremely positive about the school. They comment that it feels like a family. Parents are extremely positive about the school. They comment that it feels like a family.”
At St Mary’s Bryanston Square, we are particularly proud of our expertise in phonics and music. As a lead school for both subjects, we have established innovative programs that ensure our students not only meet but exceed national standards. Our phonics program is designed to instill a strong foundation in reading from an early age, while our comprehensive music curriculum nurtures creativity and provides students with numerous performance opportunities, fostering both confidence and artistic expression.
Our Early Years department is another cornerstone of our school’s success. Recognized for its outstanding provision, our Early Years team creates a stimulating and supportive environment where young children can thrive. The dedication and expertise of our staff ensure that each child receives personalized attention, enabling them to develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime.
Choosing St Mary’s Bryanston Square Primary School means choosing a school that values excellence in all areas.
