At St Mary's we are a busy school with activities and clubs beginning at 7.45am and running through until 6.00pm.  Below, we have detailed a 'typical' day at St Mary's School. 

Breakfast Club

St Mary’s runs a Breakfast Club from 7.45am - 8.45am every school day. Entry to the club is through main office. Please register your child for Breakfast Club via the school app, Arbor. The Breakfast Club is open to all children in Reception through to Year 6.

Soft Start

The school gates open from 8.45am each morning, this is when all the classrooms in all years groups are open and ready to welcome children in. During this time, there will be a morning activity ready for the children to complete.

Nursery and Reception classes enter using the gate from the main playground, through the Foundation Stage outdoor area.

Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 children enter their classrooms directly from the playground. Year 5 and 6 children independently enter in to school and access their classrooms via the staircase.

As part of our safeguarding procedures, parents of children in Years 1 - 6 are encouraged to say goodbye to their children at the door of the classroom or in the playground. This ensures that we have a safe, calm and orderly process to the beginning of our day. This also provides an opportunity for children to develop independence, allows for the completing of activities such as organising their own belongings on to their pegs or handing in their reading records or homework.

Children arriving after 9.00am are marked in the registers as late.

We offer afterschool clubs, including wrap-around care for children from Reception to Year 6. 

Wrap-around Club starts at 3.30pm until 6pm, Monday - Friday. Parents can book slots on the parent app, Arbor. 

At the end of the day

• At the end of the day all children from Nursery to Year 5 are collected from their classrooms or the playground.
• Year 6 children are dismissed from the main gates on Enford Street.  

Any children not collected by 3.45pm will be taken to the office to be supervised by the office team. When the children are collected, the responsible adult will be asked to supply a reason for the late collection of their child and to sign the ‘Late Collected’ book.
