Physical Education

We are committed to promoting the health and well-being of our pupils through physical activity. Our PE programme is tailored to develop children's basic physical competencies, build confidence in their ability and build the foundations for a lifelong love of sport, physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.

Physical education is implemented through a variety of activities at St Mary’s. Every class has two PE lessons per week, covering a range of skills and knowledge. Below, we have included documents which show the overview of PE in our school, as well as an example of a lesson plan from Complete PE the scheme of learning which we use to develop children's skills and knowledge.

In addition to our on-site facilities, such as the playground, hall and Edible Playground, we enhance our provision by capitalising on local amenities such as Seymour Leisure Centre, Paddington Rec and partnerships with local sports clubs such as Lord’s Cricket Ground.

St Mary’s offers a range of after school clubs that children can join (subsidised by the Sports Grant). These vary from term to term, but include dance, gymnastics and multi-skills. Please contact the school office for further details.

In order to encourage children to live active, healthy lifestyles we ask our parents to support us by encouraging children to eat sensibly and exercise regularly.  The links below provide some excellent advice and suggestions on how to do this.

In 2023/24, St Mary's won the Active Westminster PE and School Sport Award for our commitment to sport and high-quality PE provision.
